built
in
1993
for
Holland
America
Line.
In
1996,
it
became
the
very
first
cruise
ship
to
dock
in
Antwerp
following
the
establishment
of
Cruise
Port
Antwerp.
Cruises
had
already
been
visiting
the
city
prior
to
that,
but
it
was
with
MS
Maasdam
that
the
official
count
began.
In
2026,
after
a
26-year
absence,
the
ship
returned
to
Antwerp
as
the
MS
Renaissance
of
Compagnie
Française
de
Croisières
(CFC).
That
company
has
been
part
of
the
Ambassador
Group
since
2025,
and
the
ship
therefore
bears
the
same
livery as Ambassador Cruise Line.
