The Maasdam is, as seen by Cruise Port Antwerp, the first cruise ship that every docked in Antwerp as they started to count the ships from that day. The ship was festively welcomed to the city. A delegation of Antwerp went onboard to present gifts to the captain. During the departure the Maasdam was saluted by a tugboat which sprayed a water curtain in the air. This ship was docked in Antwerp on 30 August 1996.
