Spirit of Adventure

Saga Cruises

MS Spirit of Adventure opened this year's cruise season. It was also the ship's maiden call, before which the customary plaque ceremony took place on board between the captain and the City of Antwerp. The 236-metre ship was delivered in 2020 by German shipyard Meyer Werft. In terms of layout, she is virtually identical to her sister ship MS Spirit of Discovery. What does vary greatly is the style of the interior. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 10 and 11 Februari 2023.

Ocean Nova

Noble Caledonia

The expedition cruise ship Ocean Nova came to Antwerp for the first time in 2023. At 73 metres long, it is the second smallest cruise ship ever to visit Antwerp. During her call, the sailing ship Dar Młodzieży also arrived back in Antwerp after her apprenticeship at sea with students from the Antwerp Maritime Academy. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 21 April 2023.

Clio

Grand Circle Cruise Line

The expedition cruise ship Clio came to Antwerp for the first time this year. The ship was only supposed to stay for one day, but technical problems forced it to stay two days longer in Antwerp. MS Clio can accommodate 89 passengers and has 60 crew members on board. This ship was berthed in Antwerp from 7 to 9 May 2023.

Bolette

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

MS Bolette of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines visited Antwerp again in May. The ship was built in 2000 as MS Amsterdam for Holland America Line. In 2020, the ship, together with her sister ship MS Rotterdam, was bought by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. MS Bolette can accommodate for 1380 passengers and 647 crew members. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 1 May 2023.

Le Boréal

Ponant

The luxury yacht of the French cruise line Ponant was once again docked in Antwerp in 2023. The ship is one of four almost identical vessels. In 2014, her sister ship, L'Austral, was also docked in Antwerp. Le Boréal has a length of 142 metres and can take 264 passengers on board. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 10 May 2023.

AIDAaura

AIDA Cruises

The German cruise ship AIDAaura visited Antwerp again this year. Unfortunately, the ship has been sold in early 2023 and will leave the fleet at the end of September. What will happen to the ship is still unclear. During her call in September, the ship will be on her very last cruise for AIDA. AIDAaura has room for 1266 passengers and 389 crew members. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 5 and 6 June 2023.

National Geographic Explorer

National Geographic / Lindblad Expeditions

The American expedition cruise ship National Geographic Explorer was in Antwerp again this year. The ship regularly sails cruises in the Arctic waters for which it has a reinforced hull with ice class 1A. The National Geographic Explorer has a length of 112 metres and can carry 148 passengers. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 11 June 2023.

The World

Residensea

The private residential cruise ship The World came to Antwerp again for several days at the end of June 2023. It was the fourth time the ship could be seen in the city of Scheldt. On board are 165 residences, most of which can only be bought. Their price ranges between $600,000 and $13 million for 27m² to 301m². The ship can accommodate 150 to 200 guests. This ship was bertherd in Antwerp from 29 June to 1 July 2023.

Plantours Kreuzfahrten

The ship of German cruise line Plantours Kreuzfahrten has a length of 144 metres and can take 400 passengers on board. In 1997, the ship was built at MTW Schiffswerft in Wismar, Germany. There, the ship was named c. Columbus. In 2002, the ship was also in Antwerp under this name. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 5 July 2023.

Riviera

Oceania Cruises

The luxury cruise ship MS Riviera was in Antwerp for the first time this year. The 239-meter-long ship is the largest cruise ship coming to Antwerp in 2023. MS Riviera entered service in 2012 and has room for 1,250 passengers and 800 crew members. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 10 July 2023.

The luxury cruise ship Seven Seas Navigator was in Antwerp again this year. The ship entered service in 1999. Seven Seas Navigator has a length of 171 meters and can carry 490 passengers. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 26 July 2023.

Europa 2

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises

This year the Europa 2, the best cruise ship in the world according to the Berlitz Cruise Guide, once again docked in Antwerp. The ship has a length of 225 meters and can carry 516 passengers. The ship was built in 2013 at the French shipyard STX Europe in Saint-Nazaire. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 8 & 9 August 2023.

Sea Cloud Spirit

Sea Cloud Cruises

The three-master was again in Antwerp in June. MS Sea Cloud Spirit is the newest ship of the German shipping company Sea Cloud Cruises. The three-master has room for 136 passengers and 85 crew members. At its highest point, the ship has a height of 57.7 meters. All sails together have an area of 4100m². This ship was in Antwerp on 16 & 17 August 2023.

World Odyssey

Semester At Sea

The floating university came to Antwerp to embark around 800 students for an almost 4-month world voyage to Bangkok. During the summer months, 'Phoenix Reisen' took over the ship and changed the ship's name back to MS Deutschland. The interior of the ship reflected a Grand Hotel from the 1920s, which was the first time the ship came to Antwerp for Semester At Sea. This ship was in Antwerp on September 8 & 9, 2023.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises

MS HANSEATIC nature is one of the expedition cruise ships of German cruise line Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and came to Antwerp for the first time in 2023. It was the last of the 3 expedition sister ships yet to visit Antwerp. The ships are fully equipped to sail in the polar regions as well. This ship was in Antwerp on 6 October 2023.

Artania

Phoenix Reisen

Artania of the German cruise line Phoenix Reisen was docked in Antwerp again this year. The 231-metres long ship was built in 1984 as Royal Princess for Princess Cruises and was also docked in Antwerp under that name in 2000. MS Artania can accommodate 1260 passengers. This ship was berthed in Antwerp on 10 October 2023.

Ambition

Ambassador Cruise Line

MS Ambition from English company Ambassador Cruise Line came to Antwerp for the first time in 2023. Ambassador Cruise Line is the resurrection of Cruise & Maritime Voyage, which went bankrupt due to the Corona crisis. In 2022, the ship was acquired from AIDA Cruises. Until then, it sailed cruises to Africa under the name AIDAmira. The ship was built in 1999 for Festival Cruises. For that cruise line, the ship was in Antwerp as MS Mistral at the end of June 1999. The ship was presented in the city. This ship was in Antwerp on 19 October 2023.
