MS Fram is part of the fleet of the Norwegian company Hurtigruten. They deploy a daily post and passenger route along the Norwegian West coast with eleven ships. MS Fram is one of the expedition ships of the company and does not regularly sail the route. Every year the ship sails from the Arctic waters around Spitsbergen to the Antarctic regions. The ship was built at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. It got a strengthened hull to move through the ice without a problem. MS Fram was named after the famous namesake expedition ship.
