first
of
six
expedition
cruise
ships
that
will
be
built
for
the
French
cruise
company
Ponant.
Each
of
the
ships
will
be
named
after
a
French
explorer.
For
Le
Lapérouse
this
is
Jean
François
de
La
Pérouse
from
the
18th
Century.
Le
Lapérouse
is
also
the
very
first
ship
with
an
underwater
lounge
which
enables
passengers
to
look
through
a
window
below
the
waterline
and
experience
the
sea
and
its
sounds.
The
ship
has
also
been
designed
as
an
icebreaker.
Le
Lapérouse
sails
under
the
French
flag,
just
like
all the other ships of Ponant.
